Carolina Skin and Laser, a division of Carolina Ophthalmology, was formed in early 2008. With the exponential growth of our cosmetic laser and surgical services program, this new division is an extension of the services currently offered through our practice. Dr. Marion Van Kirk, medical director for Carolina Skin and Laser, has been performing medical and cosmetic laser procedures on patients since the late 1980's. Dr. Van Kirk trained under world renowned Beverly Hills surgeon, Dr. Norman Schorr. Since that time, she has performed thousands of medical and cosmetic oculoplastic and laser procedures. Dr. Van Kirk's reputation for quality and compassion is unsurpassed.
Assisting Dr. Van Kirk at Carolina Skin and Laser is our Licensed Medical Aesthetician, Vicki Whitaker. Ms. Whitaker is experienced in the use of lasers to treat aging and sun-damaged skin, red and brown spots, small vein removal and hair removal. In fact, Ms. Whitaker is a Certified Cutera Laser Specialist. She has also received special training with the Obagi Nu-Derm Skin Care System, a unique prescription brand of skin care products that works at a cellular level to correct hyperpigmentation, improve skin texture, and reduce fine lines. Ms. Whitaker also routinely performs microdermabrasion, a popular procedure that removes the top layer of skin cells leaving the skin smooth and vibrant. Microdermabrasion and Obagi skin care products are utilized as an adjunct to many of our cosmetic treatments to maximize patient results. Ms. Whitaker can also assist patients with our new line of glōminerals™, a pharmaceutical grade of makeup with natural high-pigment minerals and antioxidants.
